He talks about the crocodile brain mumbo jumbo that are basic cognitive science. It will pique your interest in the beginning if you're not familiar with it, but it's awful later on in the book. He talks about how awesome he is and how amazing his techniques are endlessly. Do me a favor, try to find this book somewhere else for free then tell me how to practically implement his strategies. I'll wait.

Oren Klaff did a great job in this book explaining how the human brain works and how people perceive your message. He delivers a framework on how to shape your message for your audience and how to be persuasive in your pitch. All based on research how your brain works. Although he has a background in finance, this approach is highly applicable for other industries where pitching is needed, such as advertising. I read this book on a flight to Denver (to see the band Phish!) and thought about the methods he discusses a lot on my trip. It stuck with me.We all think we can make presentations and people will receive them based our calm and analytical approach. This has been proven false! The audience's first reaction is pure instinct and there is nothing you can do about that. Once you are aware of this you will change your message accordingly.He also delivers tips on how to handle so called beta-traps from your opponent: letting you wait in the lobby, saying they don’t have much time for you, interrupting during a presentation, etc. The situations he describes are very recognizable to most of us and I'd like to memorize this book for those situations.

It offers tips and strategies along with anecdotes to show how it's applied. It's not very difficult concept to learn and employ, but it's not as easy as the author makes it out to be (but then again doesn't success require work and effort?). I'm very pleased with the amount of knowledge I've gained and been able to implement within a short period of time.

I don't know if Jennifer has ever heard the quote I used as the headline for my review, but I feel like that is the underlying theme for all of her books. I read the first two and loved them and have been waiting rather impatiently for this one to come out. I loved every bit of it! I am in a season of my life right now where it would be so easy to slip into a very casual way of presenting myself and keeping house( SAHM to three fantastic and busy children aged 6 and under.) However after reading Jennifer's books I was moved to clear out the unflattering or ill fitting clothes from my closet and only have garments that match with each other and fit well. The other day I woke up feeling exhausted from tending my baby all night, yet I had to get up and take my other children to some appointments we had scheduled for that day. What a relief it was to go into my closet and spend 15 seconds putting together a well fitting and matching outfit! I no longer save my nice clothes for when my children are older, but wear them now and it really makes me feel better about myself. I light candles and play beautiful music on my iPhone during the day and my mornings no longer feel quite as frantic. I sit down and talk with my children during lunch while drinking a cup of tea or coffee from a beautiful mug. I could go on and on(obviously) but I have to say following Jennifer's advice about living each day to the fullest, being present in the moment and elevating daily life to a beautiful experience has been some of the best advice I have ever received for this time in my life. From the bottom of my heart, Jennifer, I thank you. My days and my years will be beautiful.

This book, while filled with interesting pointers, is more of a philosophical self-help book than "Lessons" or "At home with." I preferred the concrete tips of the previous two but found this interesting if not immediately helpful.

Cute book only I feel like it is just a re-cap of the first book "Lessons from Madame Chic". It does have some new pieces of information but I did not even finish reading it. I got too bored. If you have the first one, you won't be missing much if you pass on this.

I have read all of Jennifer's books and am an avid follower of her blog and YouTube videos. I believe in the way that she talks about looking your best always and pratice my own 10 item wardrobe. My favorite book was her first book, this would be my second. Because of this books I find myself, when I am in tough situations asking "what would jennifer do?" And have more often than not changed my behavior for the bether. I feel calmer and more poised (the whole point, right?) And try to relish is life's simple pleasures. So if you're reading this and want to learn more about becoming a better version of yourself... I would recommend that you purchase this book!

This is a helpful book for women who strive for a pulled-together, poised lifestyle. It would be especially helpful for younger women, in their 20's and 30's. I purchased it, but found I already had heard many of the tips before, so gave it to my 25 year old daughter. I have no doubt she will greatly benefit from the advice to live more polished and poised. I loved Jennifer L. Scott's other two books: Lessons from Madame Chic and At Home with Madame Chic.

I've been a follower of Jennifer's blog for a long time, at least back to 2009 or 2010. I loved her first book, and the second book was good too. This book was disappointing as it was quite repetitive and mentioned points already stated before in her other two books. I do appreciate what Jennifer was trying to say but I felt she could have benefitted from a different editor who could have steered her in a better direction, or at least pointed out which areas of the book were too repetitive. The character of Madame Chic (or should I say Madame Shrew?) needs to be retired. No doubt she gave Jennifer some good advice during her stay in France, but from the stories Jennifer tells in all three books, Madame Chic sounds like a bit of a shrew who wasted no opportunity to scold Jennifer or "reprimand", "school" her on something, as if Jennifer had no clue about anything! My favorite part of the book was when Jennifer stood up to Madame Chic after Madame Chic told her (in front of their family at the dinner table) what is the correct way to eat cheese in France. I doubt the way Jennifer was eating the cheese was hardly as offensive as Madame Chic made it out to be. Good for Jennifer for standing up for herself, I would have done the same thing after spending months of Madame Chic breathing down your neck about the littlest things and probably embarrassing her. I still follow Jennifer, her YouTube channel is worth checking out and she generates good discussions on different topics there.

I read Jennifer's first two books, and couldn't wait to get Polish Your Poise with Madame Chic. It does not disappoint!!! Jennifer makes many good points in this book. I liked the quiz, lists and points that she was able to put additional focus on from her first two books. I think grooming, presentation, and poise are still important today if not more important. When flying, many look like we just rolled out of bed, and I remember when it was exciting, and you dressed to fly. I also like to hear/watch her weekly commentary on her blog The Daily Connoisseur. I plan on giving this book to several friends for Christmas as I think the message is so good. Thanks

I was excited to find a photo book on Bhutan as there are few. Unfortunately the images in Dreaming Bhutan are poorly reproduced. Many photos almost look like they were taken on an old cell phone and printed by one of those online digital photo book companies. The content itself isn't incredibly unique nor does it capture the magnificent beauty of Bhutan's environment or the cultural richness of its people. I would not recommend this book, even for those desperate for a look into this hidden kingdom.

I love Bhutan! And I was hoping this book would help me to escape there in my mind. I was greatly disappointed. There was nothing special about the pictures. They were like all the other books I've looked at or read. I was hoping for something more insightful, something not everyone else has featured. She said it was not her goal to rewrite information about the culture, etc., that you could find in other books or on the internet. And yet, the book contains many quotes from other books rather than explain what the picture itself is about. Way too pricey for what you get. If it wasn't such a hassle to return it, I would. And I am not one to return any book.

If you allow yourself a breath of stillness on a page you can feel the timeless magic of this ancient land so vast and distant from our everyday.Amazing as well that a western author would receive recognition from Bhutan's royal family.Beautiful work. What I take with me as I turn each page is an appetizer to a never-ending banquet, a glimpse at a door of a an infinite gallery, a peek at the tip of an iceberg. I get a taste of the values, ideals, and priorities of this country, and I find myself in love with Bhutan, longing to greet and embrace her at the jetway; I've gained an awareness that she has so much to offer that I would be wise to approach her with respect and willingness for fear of missing the beauty, depth, and love she has to offer.But, that's just me. LEE J. AMES began his career at Walt Disney Studios and taught at the School of Visual Arts in New York City and at Dowling College on Long Island. He directed his own advertising agency and has illustrated over 150 books, ranging from preschool picture books to postgraduate texts. A prolific author of more than 30 Draw 50 books, Lee Ames died at the age of 90 in June 2011.

When you have decided, follow the step-by-step method shown. Very lightly and carefully, sketch out step number one...Step number two is added right to step number one, also lightly and also very carefully. Step number three is sketched right on top of numbers one and two. Continue this way to the last step. The last step, and the last step only, should be drawn in firmly.

I like this for the easy step by step directions and the wide variety of these aircrafts to select from. So, I would like to recommend this for five stars and for children and adults who wish to learn how to draw these types of airplanes, aircrafts and spacecrafts. I received this ebook for the cost of this ebook I had bought as a tool for being an author and illustrator, so now that I have looked it over from front to back Ai am now sending you this review in return for being able to buy this for my library at a great price, here is my honest review. super job Lee! Just like to make one suggestion: I would have been more super if you could have put each of these lessons in ABC type of order and let the author then go to this table of contents and tap on their particular lesson right then and there instead of having to spend a lot more time searching for it when they most need to begin drawing,see? I used this both as an art teacher and as a reading teacher. Boys love to draw these things. In art, they need to really see and notice detail, and they have to persevere until they get it right. In reading, they have to do the art skills, and follow directions. Since it's non-fiction, it fits in with today's education trends. Kids love to draw whether they're in art class or reading class, and how special is it to be able to use this as a reading teacher? Your male students will love you.

I'm a ten year old. I love drawing airplanes. This book taught me how to draw many different kinds of planes including the B52 bomber (USA) and the B17 flying fortress. Also in the book you can draw other things that fly too. For example, in the book you could draw the Saturn 5 rocket and draw the command module in it. In my opinion this is a great book to get for a young artist.

Good books to learn to draw step by step. It makes drawing simple and fun.

I suck at drawing; don't even plan to use this book as a guide to improve technique. Bought it for purely nostalgic reasons, memories from my childhood hanging out in the library, not doing homework. heh
